Flourish℠ Memory Care is a one-of-a-kind program based on the very best practices in Memory Care from the most respected thought leaders in the industry. Program foundations include:
A consistent offering of traditional activities that appeal to the seven core areas of programming (Cognitive, Creative, Community, Motivational, Physical, Social and Spiritual). Velocity is our daily activities programming that sets the speed and direction for our residents’ days.
REST AND RESTORATION
Personalized, technological interventions – such as nostalgic music on headphones, tablets showing non-plot videos and weighted blankets – help manage challenging behaviors while promoting solace, relaxation and reflection to maintain a calm, supportive environment.
A Japanese tradition using warm hand towels offered to our residents before mealtime. It’s a daily routine activity that provides a consistent reminder for mealtimes while providing aromatherapy.
Specific Therapeutic Assisted Recreation is a family-oriented program that allows our families to bring in personal reminiscent-type items to share with their family members.
GRAB-AND-GO NEIGHBORHOOD ACTIVITIES
A cluster of group activities that care staff can simply grab off the shelf, read the instructions for, and engage with the residents in a smaller group setting.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is Memory Care for seniors?
Memory Care is a long-term care plan provided at either a senior living community with other care levels or at a stand-alone Memory Care facility.
A person with dementia will live in a Memory Care community if they are no longer able to live safely at home or need more medical care, like skilled nursing or in-depth Memory Care services outside of home care.
At Charter Senior Living of Davison, we provide personalized care to every wonderful resident in our Memory Care neighborhood, along with services and amenities that help them thrive. Learn more about our unique approach, below.
Does Your Community Serve Seniors at All Stages of Memory Loss?
Signs of early-stage dementia include forgetting names, repetition, and struggling to find the right words to describe feelings. Middle-stage dementia comes with the individual needing assistance from others more frequently, along with the worsening of early symptoms. Signs of later-stage dementia may include little to no communication, loss of mobility, incontinence, and the inability to eat or dress.
Dementia and Alzheimer’s look different for every family. That’s why we created a unique program in Flourish℠ – to personalize care exactly to your loved one’s needs.
How can I decide between assisted living and memory care?
Assisted Living and Memory Care senior living communities provide many of the same services, including housing; meals; and help with bathing, grooming and toileting. However, Memory Care communities or neighborhoods specialize in caring for seniors with all stages of Alzheimer’s disease or other forms of dementia. In Memory Care communities, environmental security is a key design feature.
To prevent wandering, many communities are equipped with locked entrances and exits, as well as keypad entries, obscured exits, and doorbells signaling entering and exiting. To avoid injuries from falls, dementia care communities feature designs that minimize confusion. In addition, they offer calming therapies in soothing spaces. This can help reduce agitation and confusion that can lead to aggression or self-injury.
The staff members in dementia care communities are also specially trained in care planning for those living with memory loss. The staff understands how to effectively prevent and manage difficult dementia behaviors. They also understand the balance of encouraging residents to stay as independent as possible while providing the support they need. Many communities, including Charter, have a higher staff-to-resident ratio than Assisted Living, which allows for more one-on-one attention throughout the day.
What is the cost of memory care?
Our monthly rates start at $5,925.
WHAT IS INCLUDED IN ALL-INCLUSIVE MEMORY CARE?
Does Medicare cover memory care?
Medicare and Medicare Advantage Plans generally will not pay for room and board or personal care in a Memory Care community. Memory Care will, however, pay for the medical care the facility provides. Veterans benefits typically help cover the cost for eligible Veterans and surviving spouses who are over age 65.
Is dementia care right for my loved one?
When considering moving your loved one to a senior living community that specializes in dementia care and Alzheimer’s disease, there is much to consider.
- Are they in the early stage of the disease, or do they need the long-term care provided in nursing homes?
- Will they have the support they need?
- Will they be safe, happy and content?
How do you get respite care for dementia patients?
If you are temporarily unable to care for your loved one with memory loss, we offer Short-Term Stays as a reliable solution. Reach out to our team today to apply for your loved one’s Short-Term Stay in Memory Care.
Does medicare cover Respite Care for dementia?
If outside services (such as rehabilitation) are needed during a resident’s Short-Term Stay in Memory Care, Medicare coverage would be available to qualifying patients.
